Australia Reacts to Netanyahu’s Decision to Occupy Gaza
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Sputnik, Australia has reacted to benjamin Netanyahu’s decision regarding the occupation of Gaza.
After Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his intention to occupy Gaza, Australia urged Israel not to pursue this course of action.
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said on Friday that Australia calls on Israel not to follow a path that would worsen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. She emphasized that permanent forced displacement violates international law.
Wong stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian aid access into Gaza, and the release of Israeli captives.
The foreign minister added that a two-state solution remains the best way to achieve lasting peace.
Notably, Australia has not yet joined countries declaring intent to recognize Palestine as an self-reliant state but has stated it will make a decision at an appropriate time. this stance comes amid growing australian criticism of Israel.
This progress follows approval by Israel’s cabinet of Prime minister Netanyahu’s plan to occupy Gaza City.
