Israeli Plot to Target Arbaeen Pilgrims Thwarted
According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Iraq’s official news agency (INA),Nasif Jassim Khatabi,Governor of Karbala,stated in a press conference that the Shaheen intelligence group in Karbala province,under the direct supervision of the Karbala Investigation Court,carried out an extremely secret and precise intelligence operation.
He said the operation resulted in the arrest of 22 terrorists planning criminal acts including planting explosives along pilgrims’ routes,targeting security forces and Hussaini service stations,and attempting to poison pilgrims at gathering points-especially in southern parts of the province.
Khatabi added that among the foiled plots was an attempt to attack a Hussainiya located on the Karbala-Najaf road.This conspiracy was thwarted through coordination with judicial and security authorities.
The governor noted that investigations and evidence revealed the suspects were prepared to carry out their terrorist plans; they confessed in court to their affiliation with ISIS.
Khatabi also mentioned that some suspects maintained links with foreign entities. Notably, one had direct connections with the Israeli regime and groups supporting terrorism.
