UN Security Council to Hold Emergency Meeting on Gaza Tomorrow
The English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency, reported that diplomatic sources told Al Jazeera that the UN Security Council will convene an emergency session tomorrow, saturday, to review Israel’s plans to occupy the Gaza Strip.
Diplomatic sources also stated that Russia, china, Somalia, and Algeria have supported holding this urgent UN Security Council meeting to examine Israel’s intended takeover of Gaza.
The united Kingdom,Denmark,France,Greece,and slovenia have formally requested an immediate Security Council session to discuss Israel’s occupation plan for Gaza.
This support for a council meeting comes amid increasing international efforts to respond to escalating tensions provoked by Israel.
Earlier, the Palestinian Authority’s representative at the United Nations announced that several countries would soon request a Security Council meeting regarding Gaza.
Riyad Mansour said such a session must occur as soon as possible to prevent the occupation of Gaza City by the Zionist regime.
He emphasized: “The Israeli cabinet under Netanyahu is attempting to execute a malicious plan in Gaza.What must be done now is establishing peace and providing food for Palestinians in Gaza-not carrying out a massacre. We face a critical moment and war in Gaza must not continue.”
