Warning Issued Over Ba’athist Infiltration Threat in Iraq
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Al-Maalomah via Mehr News Agency, Nouri al-Maliki, leader of Iraq’s State of Law Coalition, emphasized that the Iraqi constitution explicitly prohibits the activities of the dissolved Ba’ath Party and forbids its leaders from reengaging in political activities under any guise or pretext.
He added that membership in this party is an enduring crime that does not fade over time. Iraq endured years marked by repression and bloodshed under a despotic regime during that era.
Al-Maliki stressed that the National Committee for Accountability and Justice was established to identify Ba’athists and take legal action against them. These individuals are barred from running for office or participating in political processes.
He warned against Ba’athist ideology infiltrating security, economic,or political sectors across Iraq. If it is proven that individuals with ba’athist views have entered parliament or government positions, immediate legal measures must be implemented against them.
