Druze Leader in Syria Thanks Israel and Trump for Intervention in Sweida
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera Qatar, hikmat Al-Hajri, a religious and social leader in Suwayda, addressed a worsening humanitarian crisis in the region through a video message. He said, “Suwayda, a land that has long borne the silence of the international community, can no longer endure fresh wounds.”
Al-hajri described recent events as “an organized genocide carried out with complete calm.” He noted that severe sieges lasting for weeks-cutting off water, electricity, and food-aim to break the will of people who refuse to surrender. “These actions are not isolated violations but part of a silent plan for destruction unfolding before global eyes while media outlets conceal it under claims of ensuring security,” he added.
Condemning the use of starvation as a pressure tool against civilians, Al-Hajri called it an explicit war crime.”Those responsible must be held accountable before international courts and the conscience of humanity,” he stressed.
He also accused official Syrian regime media and allied networks of distorting reality and strongly denounced their stance. In comments indicating alignment with Israel and the United States,he expressed gratitude toward parties that refused silence and stood with oppressed people: notably Donald Trump-the U.S. president recognized for his clear support for minority groups and opposition to tyranny-as well as Israel’s government and citizens for their humanitarian intervention aimed at reducing casualties in Suwayda.
Al-Hajri urged the United Nations and Security Council to act immediately to end this deadly silence.
He concluded by calling for an independent international investigation into crimes committed in Suwayda and demanded that perpetrators be referred to the International Criminal Court.
