Kallas: Any Russia-US Agreement Must Include Europe and Ukraine

The European Union’s foreign ⁤policy chief stated‌ that any potential‌ agreement between Russia‍ and ⁣the United States in the upcoming meeting between Trump and Putin must include the participation of Ukraine and⁤ the ⁤European Union.

The European⁣ Union has indirectly rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal too halt​ the war between Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing ‌the necessity of restoring all territories temporarily occupied by Russian forces to Kyiv, ⁢according to webangah News Agency.

Kyiv⁤ is entitled to‍ all ‍its temporarily occupied lands, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell ⁣affirmed in‌ a statement on Sunday.

He also expressed‌ confidence that the United States⁤ has the ability to compel Russia into serious ⁢negotiations.

Borrell​ added that any agreement reached between⁣ Moscow and Washington must involve Ukrainian and​ EU participation. Moreover,such a deal should not enable further ‌Russian advances against Kyiv.

The EU official announced that an extraordinary meeting of EU foreign ⁤ministers concerning Ukraine will take place on Monday.

Previously, The Wall Street Journal ‍reported that Russian ‍President Vladimir Putin proposed halting hostilities during his meeting with Steve⁣ Wittkoff, U.S. special envoy for‌ regional affairs‍ appointed by Trump, in exchange ​for securing additional territory in eastern Ukraine.

The​ Wall Street Journal cited European‍ and ⁤Ukrainian officials saying Putin⁢ told Wittkoff that if Kyiv withdrew its forces from Donetsk-resulting in Moscow gaining full control over ‌Donetsk, Luhansk, ⁤and Crimea-he would⁢ agree ‌to a complete ceasefire.
