British F-35 Fighter Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

A British F-35 fighter jet carried out ⁢an emergency landing Sunday while participating ​in a joint‍ military exercise between the United Kingdom and Tokyo, according ‌to the English section of ⁣ webangah News⁤ Agency, citing Mehr News Agency via Anadolu Agency.

The incident was reportedly caused by⁤ a technical malfunction. The British ​aircraft landed at Kagoshima Airport, located in southwestern Japan.

Japanese media‍ reported that following the emergency landing,the airport ⁢runway was closed ​for 20 minutes,causing delays and disruptions to flight operations.

No further ‍details about​ the cause of⁤ the incident ⁣have been⁣ released⁣ so far.

The⁣ UK and Japan have been conducting joint military exercises​ since August 4.

Separately, on August 6 this year,‍ Spain’s ⁤Ministry⁣ of Defense announced‌ that it ⁣is no longer considering purchasing​ American-made F-35​ fighters.

Earlier reports from El País ⁣indicated that Spain’s government had abandoned plans to acquire the‌ F-35 jets produced by aerospace giant Lockheed Martin.
