What Happened at Netanyahu’s Press Conference?
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted: “our goal is not occupation but liberation. The Gaza war could end tomorrow if Hamas lays down its arms.”
he claimed: “Our aim is to disarm Hamas and establish a non-Israeli civil administration in Gaza, free from Hamas or the Palestinian authority’s influence. We do not want either Hamas or the Palestinian Authority governing Gaza.As long as Hamas refuses to disarm, Israel has no choice but to complete its mission.”
netanyahu further stated: ”Our policy during this war has been to prevent a humanitarian crisis. As the start of the conflict, we have brought two million tons of aid into Gaza. Israel has no option but to finish its mission and defeat Hamas given their refusal to disarm.”
he alleged that in recent months Hamas looted aid shipments and created a crisis. He also accused the United Nations of refusing aid distributed through the kerem Shalom crossing. “Everything we do aims to prevent starvation,” he said,”but this does not stop global attacks and falsehoods against us.”
The Israeli prime minister said that this press conference aimed at condemning lies circulated internationally about Israel. “Today’s global media simply echo what Hamas says,” he claimed. “Hamas deliberately starves our captives in Gaza and spreads fake images about conditions there.”
He added: “We intend to take legal action against The New York Times for publishing false images about Gaza.” Netanyahu said he ordered the army to allow foreign journalists into Gaza but noted security remains a challenge.
Netanyahu blamed Hamas for damaging much of Gaza’s infrastructure by planting explosives inside buildings.he promised that Israel will open safe crossings and establish new aid distribution centers.
Without revealing military operation details concerning Gaza, he stated: “If we don’t carry out attacks, there is no chance of retrieving our hostages.”
The prime minister stressed: “I am not seeking a prolonged war; I want it ended swiftly. Israel’s objective is not occupation of Gaza-prolonging this conflict means our captives dying from hunger.”
Responding on relations with former President Trump, Netanyahu said they have not spoken as his last security cabinet meeting but intends to talk with him soon.
“If we want victory in this war,” Netanyahu added,”we must conclude it quickly.” He also claimed many awaiting aid are targeted by Hamas itself.
