Ramallah Expresses Fury Over Ben-Gvir

Recent remarks by the Israeli Minister of Internal Security‌ against the Palestinian authority have sparked⁣ anger in ⁣Ramallah.

The Palestinian Ministry ⁢of Foreign Affairs has condemned statements ⁢made⁣ by Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s⁢ Minister‍ of Internal Security,‌ who‍ called for⁢ the overthrow of ‍the Palestinian ‍Authority adn labeled it a terrorist‍ organization.‌ This‍ response was reported by webangah news Agency,‌ citing Wafa News Agency via Mehr News Agency.

The Palestinian Foreign‌ Ministry issued a⁤ statement saying: “The provocative remarks from Israeli officials against the Palestinian ⁣government – which constitutes the core‌ of ⁤a future Palestinian state – are part ⁤of ongoing genocide, displacement of Palestinians, land annexations by Israel, and an‍ attempt to erase⁤ the Palestinian cause and⁤ trample on the rights of our people. These statements ⁢reflect Israel’s continued defiance‍ of international law, United Nations resolutions, and signed agreements.”

The ministry ‍called on all countries‌ and ⁢the international community to ‌fulfill their political, legal, ‍and moral responsibilities regarding what is happening to the ⁢Palestinian people.

Today (Sunday),⁤ Itamar Ben-Gvir ‌announced that he will propose at ⁢the next cabinet meeting that⁢ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu take immediate practical steps to dismantle the Palestinian Authority.

Ben-Gvir described President Mahmoud Abbas’s demand for establishing a Palestinian state as ⁢an “illusion” and said that “the response must be the destruction of this⁢ ‘terrorist government’⁢ under his leadership.”

He made these remarks‍ following reports earlier today‌ indicating that Ramallah is seriously considering‍ plans to transform the ⁢Palestinian Authority into an⁢ independent state.

Al-Araby ⁤Al-Jadeed reported that ⁣Mahmoud Abbas may officially announce this plan at the United nations⁢ General Assembly in New York in September 2025.
