Australia Will Recognize the State of Palestine
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency and Al jazeera, the Australian Prime Minister emphasized that Australia will recognize Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly, conditional upon commitments from the Palestinian Authority.
Without mentioning Western support for Israeli actions in Gaza, he stated that the situation in the Gaza Strip is catastrophic and that Tel Aviv continues to violate international law.
The Prime minister also intervened by claiming that Hamas has no place in Palestine.
he added, “I have stressed to Netanyahu that Gaza requires a political solution, not a military one.”
Several other Western countries have previously expressed willingness to recognize Palestine. However, they have also set conditions on this recognition which appear chiefly designed to serve their international image.
