Syrian Energy Minister Joulaani Visits Baghdad to Discuss Iraq’s Oil Transit to the Mediterranean
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Iraq’s WAA news agency via Mehr News Agency, Yassin Sharif Al-Hajimi, Iraq’s Chargé d’Affaires in Damascus, announced the upcoming visit of Syria’s Energy Minister Mohamed Al-bashir to Baghdad.
Al-hajimi stated that Al-Bashir will travel to Baghdad tomorrow at the official invitation of Iraq’s Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani.
he added that the purpose of the visit is to reach agreements regarding the transit of Iraqi oil through Syrian territory and the port of banias on the Mediterranean Sea.
the Chargé d’Affaires further noted that during this trip, Al-Bashir will meet with Iraqi Water Resources Minister Aoun Dhiyab. They plan to develop a strategy and agreements addressing water shortages and reducing Euphrates River releases from 500 cubic meters per second to 300 cubic meters per second.
