Massive Explosion Rocks U.S. Steel Plant
Media report a powerful explosion at a U.S. steel plant in Pennsylvania.
According to Mehr News Agency citing the Associated Press, a U.S. official announced that an explosion on Monday at the United States Steel coke plant near Pittsburgh trapped several people under debris.
Emergency responders are on site, working to rescue those trapped beneath the rubble.
The Allegheny County Emergency Services reported that the fire began around 10:51 a.m. local time today, and five individuals have so far been transported to hospitals.
Thick smoke has covered the area.
The cause of the incident remains unknown at this time.
