Assassination Attempt on Senior Russian Officer Thwarted
Russian security forces have foiled an assassination attempt targeting a senior officer.
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Rosia Al-Youm and Mehr News Agency, the Russian Federal Security Service announced on Tuesday that it arrested a mercenary linked to Ukrainian intelligence. The individual planned to assassinate a high-ranking Russian officer.
The operation was set to be carried out using a car bomb in Moscow.
The vehicle was rigged with 60 kilograms of explosives, intended to detonate as the targeted officer passed by.
The operative traveled to Russia in 2023 and had obtained Russian citizenship.
