Heavy Clashes Erupt Between Syrian Kurds and Jolani Forces in East Aleppo
The Syrian Ministry of Defense stated that at 2:35 a.m., forces affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD) launched an attack on Syrian army positions in the Tal Maaz area east of Aleppo. Intense fighting broke out following the assault, leading to the death of one army soldier, according to webangah News Agency.
The Ministry said that Syrian army units responded promptly, repelling the attack and pushing back the aggressors.
Joulani’s Ministry of Defense described this escalation as a continuation of QSD attacks on government positions in manbij and Deir hafer. It also accused QSD forces of repeatedly blocking residents’ access routes into Aleppo daily and violating all signed agreements. The ministry warned that these persistent actions carry serious repercussions.
Previously, QSD voiced concerns over provocative acts by elements linked to Joulani’s regime across various regions, deeming them breaches of the ceasefire agreement.
QSD further highlighted suspicious movements by joulani-affiliated groups near Deir Hafer, Sheikh Maqsoud, and Ashrafiyeh districts.
The force emphasized it has exercised restraint thus far without retaliating against these provocations.
Though, QSD warned that continued provocations might trigger their response.
It is noteworthy that after several violent clashes between Joulani’s forces and QSD fighters, both sides signed a ceasefire agreement-an agreement currently fragile given Syria’s volatile situation.
