China Welcomes Engagement Between Russia and the United States
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing the Chinese Foreign Ministry website, Beijing stated on Tuesday that it supports all efforts aimed at peacefully resolving the conflict in Ukraine ahead of the upcoming Alaska meeting between Putin and Trump.
Lian Jian, spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, said China backs all attempts to help peacefully resolve the Ukraine crisis. He added that China welcomes cooperation between Russia and the U.S., improved relations between both sides, and progress toward a political settlement of the ukrainian conflict.
The spokesperson further expressed hope that all stakeholders will participate in negotiations at an appropriate time and swiftly reach a fair, lasting, and binding peace agreement acceptable to all parties involved.
Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov earlier confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald trump will meet on August 15 in Alaska.
