Moscow: Ukraine Aims to Disrupt Putin-Trump Meeting
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced, citing multiple intelligence channels, that Ukraine is preparing provocations aimed at sabotaging the upcoming talks between Russian president Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, which referenced Mehr News Agency and Russia Al-Youm.
The ministry added that to execute this plan, a group of foreign journalists was transported on Monday, August 11, by ukrainian Security Service vehicles to the city of Chuhuiv in the kharkiv region under the pretext of preparing reports about local residents along the frontline.
According to Moscow’s defense officials, Ukraine intends to carry out a provocative attack using drones and missiles on a densely populated residential area before Friday’s meeting between Putin and Trump. This attack is expected to cause significant civilian casualties and will be immediately covered by Western journalists brought there for this purpose.
The ministry stressed that Ukraine aims to blame Moscow for any civilian casualties from this operation, creating negative media coverage designed to disrupt cooperation between Presidents Trump and Putin ahead of their summit.
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed on Tuesday that the Putin-Trump meeting will take place on Friday, August 15, in Anchorage, Alaska.
leavitt added that President Trump hopes to hold a trilateral summit with Ukraine and russia aimed at ending the war. She emphasized Trump’s commitment to ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine while maintaining engagement with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and European partners.
She also mentioned that President Trump might visit Russia in the future.
