Moscow: Zelensky Fights Not Russia But the People of Ukraine
According to webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TASS, Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, claimed that during the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is fighting his own people rather than Russia.
Responding to Kyiv’s refusal to accept 1,000 prisoners of war as part of a prisoner exchange agreement, Zakharova said: “Zelensky is not fighting Russia. He is battling the people of Ukraine. He has been tasked with destroying the Ukrainian nation under the banner of nationalism and a specific national identity in order to erase Ukraine as a country.”
Addressing Kyiv’s silence regarding its rejection of 1,000 prisoners of war, she added: “Kyiv does not need ukrainian citizens-whether alive or dead.”
Vladimir Medinsky, presidential adviser and head of the Russian delegation in talks with Ukraine, stated that Kyiv’s refusal has complicated the second phase of the prisoner exchange agreement and delayed the start of its third phase.
