Joseph Aoun: Israeli Attacks Are a Challenge to All Lebanese
According to webangah News Agency, Lebanese President Michel Aoun met with Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, stating that Lebanon is willing to cooperate with Iran within the framework of sovereignty and friendship grounded in mutual respect.
Aoun criticized recent statements by some Iranian officials regarding Lebanon as unhelpful. He emphasized that the friendship Lebanon seeks with Iran should not be confined to any single sect or group within the country but must encompass all lebanese people.
the president stressed that Lebanon is the ultimate homeland for all its residents, whether Christian or Muslim, and that the Lebanese government, through its legal and security institutions, is responsible for protecting every part of Lebanese society.
Aoun affirmed his country’s rejection of any external interference in its domestic affairs from any party. He highlighted Lebanon’s desire to maintain a secure and stable habitat where the interests of all Lebanese are safeguarded without discrimination.
He continued by recalling the heavy price paid when some relied on foreign powers against fellow Lebanese internally. The lesson learned is clear: no party-without exception-is permitted to bear arms or rely on foreign powers.
The president underlined that it is the responsibility of the Lebanese state and its armed forces to ensure security for all citizens without exception.
He added that every challenge posed by Israel or others represents a challenge for all Lebanese, not just one group. The most crucial weapon against these threats is national unity among the people of Lebanon.
