Nabih Berri: Media Blackmail Against Larijani’s Visit Driven by Foreign Agenda
According to webangah News Agency, citing Lebanon’s An-Nahar newspaper, Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, emphasized that restraint and focusing on confronting Israel and its plans targeting all of Lebanon are what is truly needed.
Berri dismissed the media pressure surrounding the visit of Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, calling it insignificant. He saeid, “Brothers, don’t rush. Iran is a friendly country to Lebanon and will remain so given its active regional role.”
He added, “Hezbollah has not disappeared and despite all it has faced, it remains one of the largest parties in Lebanon.”
The speaker described the media campaign against Larijani’s visit as driven by a foreign directive led by an active lobby in Lebanon and said he found this unsurprising.
Berri stated: “If protesters can prevent his entry, let them do so. If there are objections to Iran’s statements on grounds they harm Lebanese sovereignty, we demand a thorough review of statements made by American officials and others on this matter.”
Denying any approval of the government draft resolution concerning state monopoly over arms posession,Berri said: “All I requested was postponing the first government session from Tuesday to Thursday but they opposed.”
