168 Prisoners Exchanged Between Russia and Ukraine
According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency and anadolu Agency, Russia and Ukraine exchanged a number of prisoners through mediation by the United Arab Emirates.
The Russian Ministry of Defence announced in a statement that following negotiations, 84 Russian prisoners were retrieved from Ukrainian-controlled territory in exchange for 84 Ukrainian detainees.
The statement added that the Russian soldiers freed by Ukraine are now in Belarus and will be transferred to Russian Defense Ministry medical facilities for treatment and rehabilitation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also announced via Telegram that civilians as well as soldiers were among those released,with nearly all requiring significant medical care and rehabilitation.
Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the UAE for supporting the prisoner exchange process.
