Putin Expresses Desire to End War with Ukraine; Trump Hints at Possible Moscow Visit
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Rosia Al-Youm, a joint press conference between Russian president vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump has started in Alaska.
President Putin described the talks as constructive.
Addressing Trump, he said, “I am glad to see you in good health.”
the Russian president noted that despite being separated by an ocean, Russia and the United States are close neighbors.
He added that Alaska is part of the shared history between Russia and America.
Putin said, “We have always considered the Ukrainian people as brothers,” expressing interest in resolving Ukraine’s issue.
The Russian president acknowledged that relations between Russia and the United states have fallen to their lowest point since the Cold War.
He emphasized that dialog between Russia and America was essential, urging both nations to engage in talks instead of confrontation.
Putin stressed that the negotiations were productive and constructive. He called for a sustainable solution to Ukraine’s crisis-one that addresses Russia’s security concerns.
The president asserted that ending the conflict in Ukraine is absolutely possible.
Continuing, Putin expressed hope that understandings reached with Trump would pave the way for peace in Ukraine.
He said they observed Trump’s willingness to understand the causes of conflict there and his interest in ending it.
Putin remarked that if Trump had been U.S. president earlier, there would have been no conflict in Ukraine.
Trump: The talks were very constructive
In his remarks at the press conference with Putin,U.S. President Donald Trump described their negotiations as very constructive. He said many points were agreed upon though some issues remain unresolved.
Trump stated Putin knows allegations of Russian interference in U.S. elections are fabricated. He expressed hope for cooperation with Moscow going forward.
The American president added he will contact Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and his NATO colleagues to inform them about his meeting with Putin.
Trump thanked Putin and his entire team for previous negotiations and hinted at a possible trip to Moscow soon.
