Failure to Enforce International Court Rulings Prolongs Genocide in Gaza
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the palestine Details Center, Dr. Wesam Attaallah,a researcher and professor of international law, emphasized that the silence of the global community-including official bodies, civil society, and the United Nations-has emboldened Benjamin Netanyahu,Prime Minister of Israel’s regime,to continue genocidal warfare and commit further crimes against the Palestinian people.
He added that this silence has enabled ongoing atrocities such as the assassination of journalists-most notably Al Jazeera reporter Anas al-Sharif-who was killed after publicly being threatened for insisting on reporting the truth.Attaallah pointed out that one main reason for continued genocide against civilians in Gaza is the failure to implement International Criminal Court rulings which had previously issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
The legal expert also highlighted insults and threats by Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of National security, against palestinian detainee Marwan Barghouti held in solitary confinement. He condemned this as a blatant violation of both the Third and Fourth Geneva Conventions-the treaties guaranteeing protection for prisoners and civilians. He stressed that Palestinian prisoners face some of the harshest conditions recorded in contemporary history within Israeli jails.
