Gholam Rasoul Faqir Executed
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has announced the execution of an Afghan citizen convicted of drug trafficking.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and WAM news agency, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior issued a statement announcing the execution of an Afghan national named Ghulam Rasul Faqir for drug trafficking in the Makkah region.
The statement noted that the death sentence, issued as a discretionary (ta’zir) punishment, was carried out today in Makkah following his attempt to smuggle heroin into saudi Arabia.
The ministry further explained that the Afghan citizen was arrested by security forces and confessed to his crime during trial. After review by relevant courts and final approval from the Supreme Court, his execution was carried out under royal order.
