Putin Ready to Discuss Ukraine Security Guarantees with China’s Assurance
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, the American website Axios reported, quoting an informed source, that Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his readiness to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine but listed china as one of the potential guarantors.
In another report, Axios stated that former U.S.president Donald Trump informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other parties of his desire to hold a trilateral meeting between Washington, Kyiv, and Moscow on August 22.
The outlet also added that Putin’s proposed peace conditions include a full Ukrainian withdrawal from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Meanwhile, Canada’s Prime Minister welcomed the U.S.-Russia meeting in Alaska and praised Washington’s initiative to offer security guarantees within efforts by what he called the “coalition of the willing.”
The French presidency announced on Saturday that leaders from Britain, France, and Germany will hold a virtual summit tomorrow Sunday as part of this “coalition of the willing” to discuss steps toward peace in Ukraine.
The Élysée Palace said this meeting is jointly coordinated by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. It is scheduled one day before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Washington for talks with U.S. President Joe Biden.
This virtual dialog follows Friday’s in-person encounter between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
