Security Breach of Trump-Putin Alaska Meeting Documents; White House Denies
The English section of webangah news Agency reported, citing Mehr News Agency and The hill, that the White House dismissed NPR’s story about confidential documents linked to the meeting between then-U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin found in a public hotel printer in Alaska as “ridiculous.”
Anna kelly, Deputy Press Secretary at the White House, told NewsNation: ”It’s ridiculous that NPR published a multi-page lunch menu and called it a ‘security leak.’ It’s because of this so-called ‘investigative journalism’ that no one takes them seriously anymore. Thanks to Trump, they no longer receive funding from taxpayers.”
Earlier, NPR reported that eight pages containing details about meetings and venues for the day’s talks were discovered along with phone numbers for three senior U.S. government officials. These papers were found in a hotel printer near Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson outside Anchorage shortly before Trump and Putin met.
The first page detailed Friday’s schedule of meetings along with information indicating President Trump would present Putin with a gift. Pages two through five listed senior American and Russian officials attending the summit. Page two also included phone numbers for three high-ranking U.S. staff members. Pages six and seven displayed seating arrangements for lunch alongside the menu.
