Flooding in⁤ northern China has resulted in at least eight fatalities.

According to the‍ English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News ⁣Agency and Reuters, heavy rainfall and flooding in the⁢ Inner Mongolia‌ Autonomous Region of‍ northern⁢ China have claimed at least eight lives.

Xinhua reported that a group of 13 people were hiking‌ in⁤ the area during‌ the floods. Four ⁢members of this group ⁤remain missing.

Natural disasters are common across China, especially during summer months marked ‍by intense rainfall.⁢ This contrasts ‍with other parts of the world‌ where people are struggling‍ with extreme heat waves.

Chinese state ⁤media reported that floods ⁣and ⁣landslides earlier in August northwest China⁤ caused at least‌ 13 deaths. Severe⁣ rainfall in Beijing last ⁤month also resulted‌ in 44 ⁤fatalities.

Scientists have ⁣warned that human-induced climate change ⁣is driving more extreme weather patterns, increasing the likelihood of devastating floods.
