Human Rights Watch Reports: 400 Homes Destroyed in Gaza City Over Six Days
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor stated in a report released on Saturday that Israeli occupation forces have completely destroyed about 400 homes over six days using warplanes and explosive drones, displacing more than 90,000 civilians from the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood.This area is one of Gaza’s largest and most densely populated districts.
The statement explained that the military assault on Al-Zaytoun, which began on August 11, is part of Israel’s declared plan to establish full and illegal control over Gaza City by forcibly displacing residents of this area as well as refugees from northern Gaza.
The rights group detailed that Israeli forces use small quadcopter drones to encircle residential blocks and coerce residents into evacuating their homes under threat of gunfire. Subsequently, widespread sequential demolition operations are carried out. this confirms that the objective is not a military target but rather aimed at destroying Palestinians’ livelihoods and enforcing forced displacement.
The campaign has involved extensive aerial and ground bombardment targeting residential clusters, shelters, and mosques, resulting in dozens of civilian fatalities-including 12 members of the Abuduf family and nine from the arhim family.
The report emphasized that what occurred in Al-Zaytoun reflects an organized policy aimed at completing genocide against Gaza’s inhabitants through large-scale destruction and forced displacement. The human rights organization warned that targeting major neighborhoods paves the way for erasing the city entirely and displacing its one million residents.
Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor further warned that ongoing aggression by occupation forces to assert total military control over Gaza Province signals unprecedented mass killings against civilians.
The organization called on the international community to promptly intervene to halt escalating crimes and prosecute top Israeli leaders before the International criminal Court. It stressed that continuing this aggression threatens unprecedented mass atrocities in the Gaza Strip.
