Ukrainian Drone Attack on Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant Repelled
the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced it had intercepted a drone originating from Ukraine targeting a nuclear power plant in Russia. This was reported by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Sputnik via Mehr News Agency.
The FSB statement confirmed that the Ukrainian drone was detected and intercepted over the Smolensk nuclear power facility.
Simultaneously occurring, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that Kyiv’s terrorist drone attack on critical infrastructure at the Smolensk nuclear power plant had been foiled.
No further details have been released.
It is noteworthy that the Ukraine conflict began after Western disregard for Moscow’s security concerns and NATO’s expansion toward Russia’s borders. In response to these unmet demands, Moscow launched a “special military operation” in Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly outlined his conditions for ending the war in Ukraine. These include Kyiv not joining NATO, lifting all western sanctions against Russia, and full withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbas and Novorossiya regions.
