Ben Gvir Furious Over Australia’s Move Against Israeli Lawmaker
According to the english section of webangah news agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Palestinian Information Center, Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of Internal Security, responded to Australia’s recent decision to prevent an Israeli parliamentary member from entering the country.
Reacting to Australia’s boycott of Simcha Rothman, a member of Israel’s Knesset, Ben-Gvir stated: “This action is support for Hamas, and barring Rothman is a historic stain!”
Hebrew media previously reported that Australia blocked Simcha Rothman-an MK from the Religious Zionism party-from entering its territory. Rothman was scheduled to attend a gathering of Australian Jewish residents when his visa was revoked one day before the event.
The Australian Department of Home Affairs said: “Entry will be denied to anyone spreading divisive or hateful messages.” Following Australia’s decision, the Israeli lawmaker called it ”antisemitic” and accused Canberra of supporting terrorism. Rothman added: ”This decision is not only against me but against all Israelis and Jews in Australia.”
