Beijing Responds to Trump’s Claim: “Taiwan Is Solely an Internal Matter of China
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Reuters via Mehr News Agency, China’s Foreign Ministry reacted to donald Trump’s assertion that Chinese President Xi Jinping promised not to attack Taiwan while Trump remains in the White House, stating that the Taiwan issue is an internal matter for Beijing.
Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Foreign ministry, emphasized that Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory. He stressed, “The Taiwan issue is entirely China’s internal affair and how it is resolved concerns only the chinese people.”
He added, “We will do our utmost to pursue a peaceful reunification vision but will never allow anyone or any force in any form to separate Taiwan from China.”
On the eve of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir putin regarding the war in Ukraine,Trump told Fox News that “he [Xi jinping] told me ‘as long as you are president,I will not do that,’ and I thanked him.Though,he [the Chinese president] also said ‘both china and I are very patient.'”
China considers taiwan part of its territory and remains committed to reunifying with this self-governing island. taiwan strongly rejects Beijing’s sovereignty claims.
Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry responded by saying it “continually monitors high-level interactions between U.S. and Chinese officials with close attention.”
The United States is taiwan’s most important international supporter and arms supplier but dose not maintain formal diplomatic relations with the island. China has never ruled out using force to annex Taiwan and consistently describes it as the most sensitive issue in its relations with Washington.
