Trump Walks Out of European Leaders’ Summit to Call Putin
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, the German publication Bild quoted informed sources saying that U.S. President Donald Trump briefly left a meeting with European leaders to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin. After this conversation,he resumed the summit.
The joint meeting involving Trump, European leaders, NATO secretary-General, and Ukraine’s president ended an hour earlier. During the session, Trump stated that the outlook for the Ukraine war would become clear within one or two weeks.
He added: “We are hopeful about agreements arising from meetings with EU leaders and Zelenskyy that will lead to a trilateral summit with Russia.”
The U.S. president also said he had discussed some remaining issues directly with Zelenskyy: “In our meeting with EU leaders and Zelenskyy, we will discuss ‘possible land swaps.'”
Trump said: “Within a timeframe not far from now-one or two weeks-we will know whether this matter can be resolved or if this terrible conflict will continue. We will do everything possible to end it.”
He continued: ”we had a very successful day and critically important talks. Our goal is to end the war and killing. I spoke indirectly with Putin and will continue discussions; it might be a very good conversation. Then we will hold a trilateral meeting aiming to put an end to this war.”
