Russia Continues Widespread Attacks on Ukraine Amid Peace Talks

Ukrainian officials claimed today that these overnight attacks demonstrate Moscow’s lack of seriousness toward a peace agreement, despite intense recent diplomatic efforts by the United States.
Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko wrote on social media that Russia continues to show its unwillingness for peace.
She added, “Last night Ukraine was targeted by a large-scale combined attack involving drones, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and even hypersonic weapons.”

Maxym Kozytskyi, head of the military governance in Lviv in western ukraine, said one person was killed and two injured following Russian strikes. He also confirmed dozens of residential buildings were destroyed.
the attacks come amid ongoing tensions after last Friday’s meeting in Alaska between Russian President vladimir Putin and U.S. President Joe Biden – an event accompanied by talks at the white House between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and several European leaders alongside Biden.
Russia has downplayed prospects for a bilateral summit between Putin and Zelenskyy but emphasized it wants to participate in negotiations related to future security guarantees for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy has conditioned talks with Putin on receiving security guarantees first. He has also mentioned Switzerland, Austria, or Turkey as possible venues for such a meeting with the Russian president.
