Hamas on Al-Aqsa Mosque Arson Anniversary: Tel Aviv’s Plans Will Fail
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen, Hamas issued a statement on the 56th anniversary of the arson attack on al-Aqsa Mosque on August 21, 1969. The movement stressed that the Zionist regime holds no legitimacy over this holy site and that Tel Aviv’s attempts to erase its Islamic identity will fail.
The statement highlighted that the crimes committed by the Zionist regime against Gaza over the past 22 months continue alongside plans for settlement expansion, Judaization of the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, and temporal-spatial segregation within Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Hamas declared: “The crime of burning al-Aqsa can never alter current realities or allow occupiers to seize even an inch of this sacred place. Tel Aviv’s ambitions extend beyond Palestine; we have also heard Netanyahu’s delusions about Greater Israel.Arab and Islamic countries must act decisively to restrain the Zionist regime and bring its criminal leaders to justice.”
The statement further urged freedom lovers worldwide to intensify their support for Palestine, especially tomorrow.
It is worth noting that 56 years ago today, Al-Aqsa Mosque was set ablaze by an Australian citizen named Denis Michael Rohan. The damage required several years for restoration. The Israeli occupiers deliberately hindered efforts to extinguish the fire.
