Erbil Residents Reject U.S. Requests
Residents of Erbil, Iraq, have rejected the U.S. consulate’s request to evacuate their homes.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Maalomah,local residents in Erbil province,located in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq,opposed a U.S. consulate request to evacuate homes near the Harir military base.
Salar Al-Jaf, one of the residents, emphasized that Iraqis refuse to comply with such demands and will not abandon their homes.
He added that erbil inhabitants have urged the Kurdistan Regional Government not to allow their neighborhoods to be turned into military bases; or else, they will stage protests.
Al-Jaf also noted that in recent days, Harir base has witnessed a meaningful influx of American military equipment coming from Baghdad and Anbar.
