Another Israeli Officer Present in Gaza Conflict Commits Suicide
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Israeli media announced that an Israeli officer serving at the police centre in the settlement city of Sderot, northeast of the Gaza Strip, committed suicide.
The report states that this police officer had suffered psychological issues following the deaths of his colleagues during the ongoing war against Gaza.
Israeli media also reported that since the beginning of this year, 22 members of Israel’s military and security services have taken their own lives.
Internal investigations conducted by the Israeli army reveal that intense psychological pressure, repeated fatigue, and battlefield shocks in Gaza substantially contribute to mental stress among Israeli soldiers.
The findings further indicate that the protracted conflict in Gaza and lack of clear objectives for its continuation have undermined soldiers’ morale and increased suicide rates among them.
According to Israeli media reports, since the outbreak of war on October 7, 2023, at least 44 occupying soldiers have committed suicide due to war-related psychological symptoms.
