Trump: Putin and Zelensky Must Meet; Myung: Peninsula Situation Is Critical

US President, during a meeting with ‍the South Korean President at the White House, stated that the Russian and Ukrainian presidents must meet; failure to ‌do so could have consequences.

According to the ‍English section of webangah News⁣ Agency, citing‍ Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, US President ⁣Donald Trump ⁣met today, Monday, with South korea’s newly⁣ elected President Lee Jae-myung at the‌ White House.

During⁢ the meeting, Trump said: “South Korea is an critically important‌ buyer ‍of American military equipment.‍ I also have a good ⁣relationship⁢ with North‍ Korea’s leader and ther is ⁤mutual‌ respect between us. Everyone used to call North Korea’s leader ‘Rocket‍ Man,’ but I have⁤ a good relationship ⁢with ⁣him. The Russian president must meet his‌ Ukrainian counterpart. If they don’t meet, it could lead to serious ‌consequences. I will ‌finalize any agreement after ‌a meeting between Putin and Zelensky.I may ‍be present for ⁤their meeting ‍or may not-it depends on what ‌happens in the ⁤next one or two ‌weeks; then I will ⁤take⁤ action… Putin was reluctant to travel to the US for the Alaska summit. His visit would represent a ‍major concession, which I appreciate.”

Donald Trump added: ⁤”Last week alone saw 7,000 soldiers killed in the Russia-Ukraine war; this conflict ⁣must end. We are no longer giving money directly to Ukraine; rather, we sell weapons ‌to NATO, which ⁢then supplies them to‍ Ukraine.”

He continued: “Since World War II, we haven’t seen a war like Russia-Ukraine’s conflict. I’ve ⁢discussed nuclear disarmament with President Putin. ⁣The further spread of these weapons should not be allowed.”

on his part,South Korean President Lee‌ Jae-myung claimed at the ‌White House-without mentioning washington’s extensive military and financial support for Israeli forces-that America ⁣is committed to establishing peace and ending ⁤wars worldwide.

The new South Korean president added:‌ “I ask President Trump to play an ⁢active role ‌in ⁣achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula by engaging in talks with ⁢North Korea’s leader. Since‌ you left office and Biden took over as president, conditions on the peninsula have worsened considerably. I will⁢ assist you in⁢ restoring peace ‌in this region.”

To be ⁤continued…
