Ayn al-Asad Without U.S. Troops; Turning to Desert Routes
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Alsumaria News, an Iraqi source in Al Anbar province stated that U.S. forces are gradually leaving Ayn al-Asad base in western Iraq, following agreements signed with Iraqi authorities.
The source added that in recent days, there has been a rapid withdrawal of coalition forces from Ayn al-Asad.Troops have been departing in large groups via the Al-Waleed border crossing shared with Syria.
Iraqi sources report that American troops are using desert routes west of the base for their movements within iraq.
Under the signed agreement between Baghdad and Washington, international coalition forces are scheduled to leave Iraq by september this year, with a second phase of withdrawals concluding by December next year.
