At Least 30 Dead in Landslide in Jammu and Kashmir

Heavy rainfall, flooding, ⁤and landslides⁤ in Jammu and Kashmir ‌have⁢ claimed ⁣at least 30 ‍lives.

According to the ‍English section of ⁤ webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News ⁢Agency and Anadolu, at least 30 people⁢ have died following heavy rains and widespread landslides near a temple in ‌Katra city, Jammu and ⁢Kashmir.

Paramvir Singh, the regional police chief, confirmed the casualties and said rescue operations are ongoing. The⁢ intense rainfall has led to school closures, ‍office shutdowns, and suspension of businesses.⁤ Authorities have urged residents to stay indoors.

The jammu and‍ Kashmir region has experienced its heaviest‌ rainfall ‍in decades⁣ since Monday night. ⁣The downpour destroyed bridges and roads, flooded large areas, forced mass ⁣evacuations, and prompted transfers to safer locations.

Officials report that​ at ​least 3,500 people have been relocated to secure zones so far. Indian Railways‍ canceled 18 trains departing from or arriving at stations in Katra, Udhampur, and​ Jammu due to the adverse conditions.

Mobile phone networks and internet services remain disrupted ‌across the area.Continuous heavy rain is also hampering infrastructure repair efforts.

A severe downpour yesterday in Doda district ⁤of⁢ Jammu province resulted in four deaths.These latest fatalities add to those caused by recent deadly rains ‌in⁤ Kathua ‍and kishtwar districts were ⁢at ‍least 70 people were killed and‌ 25 others reported missing.
