U.S.: Freezing Russian Assets Should Only Be Used as a Negotiation Tool

US Treasury Secretary states: Freezing Russian assets should be‍ part of negotiations with Moscow, not instantly confiscated.

According to ⁢the English section of webangah News Agency, citing ‌Mehr‌ news Agency and RIA Novosti,US Treasury Secretary⁤ Scott L. was reported on Wednesday announcing the prolonged trade talks between the United States and India.

The Treasury Secretary did⁣ not directly address ongoing tensions between Washington and New Delhi over the ⁤US tariff dispute but claimed that tariff negotiations with India have been lengthy ⁢despite good relations between former President⁢ trump and Prime Minister ⁤Modi. He expressed confidence that thay‍ would ultimately reach a trade agreement with New Delhi.

Scott L. also called for Europe’s⁣ more active participation⁤ in resolving⁤ the Ukraine conflict, emphasizing that Washington should not shoulder this burden alone. Furthermore, he stated that freezing Russian assets must be considered part of negotiations with Moscow rather then those⁤ assets being immediately seized.

The claim of strong ties between Modi and Trump comes amid significant friction caused by a 25 percent increase in US tariffs ‍on Indian goods (totaling 50 percent). A German media outlet recently‍ reported that strained Indo-US relations over these tariffs have reached such a level that India’s Prime Minister has ignored four recent calls from the US ‍President.
