France: Triggering the “Trigger Mechanism” Does Not End Political Efforts
The French Foreign Minister said that the European Troika intends to use the 30-day period to continue talks with Iran, according to webangah News Agency citing Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen.
He asserted that Iran’s nuclear activities should not deteriorate further. The decision to reinstate sanctions against Iran does not signal an end to diplomatic efforts.
The German Foreign Minister also emphasized that Iran must currently fully cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency and remain committed to direct negotiations with Europe.
Reuters reported that the European Troika sent a letter to the United Nations Security Council announcing their intent to activate the snapback mechanism against the Islamic republic of Iran in order to restore UN sanctions on Tehran.
According to this letter, seen by Reuters, Germany, Britain, and France declared in a statement to the Security Council their decision “to activate the snapback mechanism against Iran before losing the ability to reinstate sanctions on Tehran by mid-October.”
