According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency, Sputnik reported that floods in Pakistan have inflicted extensive damage on the country’s economy and infrastructure. Experts estimate that full rehabilitation of the flood-damaged areas will take a considerable amount of time.
Pakistani officials have announced that over 150,000 people living along the banks of three major rivers in punjab have been evacuated.
Authorities confirmed that recent heavy rains and flooding have caused dangerously rising water levels.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan warns of ongoing perilous flood impacts as river levels near thousands of villages and urban areas-especially in Punjab-reach critical heights. Simultaneously occurring, evacuation efforts to move residents to safer locations continue.
Since late June 2025, at least 800 people across Pakistan-including Punjab and Khyber pakhtunkhwa provinces-have lost their lives due to monsoon rains and subsequent floods. In recent hours, 17 more deaths were reported in various parts of Punjab, with dozens still missing.
Pakistani media citing official statistics from law enforcement and rescue agencies report that approximately 1.5 million people in Punjab province are severely affected by the floods, with nearly 1,400 villages destroyed.

The NDMA stated that as of Thursday, over 210,000 individuals have been relocated to safer places; among them, around 25,000 are currently sheltered in rescue camps.

Islamabad claims this has triggered unprecedented flooding across central Pakistan while accusing its eastern neighbor of obstructing provisions under a shared water treaty. Last week India reportedly directed massive floodwaters toward low-lying border areas following dam releases and rising river levels.
