Russia: Europe’s Action Against Iran Has No Legal Effect
The Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations responded to European countries’ activation of the snapback mechanism against Iran.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Mayadeen, the Russian deputy UN envoy emphasized that European countries’ actions against Iran at the United Nations hold no legal weight.
He added that they do not believe the Security council shoudl make any decisions based on this move by the European troika.
The Russian official also stated that Russia and China have not yet submitted a request for a vote in the Security Council regarding their draft resolution.
Earlier, Reuters reported, citing political sources, that Russia and China are preparing a draft resolution to present to the Security Council aiming to extend the nuclear deal with Iran for an additional six months.
