International Community: Indirect Partner of Israel in Gaza Journalist Killings

webangah News Agency, ‌International Desk, Elnaz Rahmatnejad: As ⁤the start of the war against Gaza on october 7, 2023, 246 journalists and media activists have been killed in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.The Israeli regime’s recent airstrike on the emergency⁣ building of Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis represents its latest atrocity against journalists. Five journalists were killed during this⁢ attack while covering the initial bombing of this hospital by Israeli forces.

In this regard, we spoke with Osman Al-Hikimi, a Yemeni⁢ media activist specializing in international affairs. The full interview follows;

As you know, not only ⁣Gaza⁤ but anywhere a journalist raises their voice for truth becomes a target for occupiers; during the twelve-day imposed war against Iran as well, Israel bombed Iran’s Islamic⁢ Republic ⁤Broadcasting glass building resulting in three journalist deaths. Several othre media personnel ‌were⁢ also killed across different iranian⁤ provinces during attacks by Israel. Recently five reporters were martyred in Gaza while covering the first bombing at Nasser hospital-raising total journalist fatalities since Al-Aqsa storm began to 246. From your perspective as an international media activist, why dose Israel deliberately target journalists in Gaza?

The Israeli regime repeatedly targets journalists because it views them as direct threats to its⁢ existence. Journalists are voices of truth and mirrors ⁣reflecting civilian suffering across Gaza’s Strip. Therefore, bombing journalists is an attempt to silence these voices from documenting Israel’s violations and crimes there.This effort aims to prevent exposure of its atrocities through intimidation or elimination.

This is not confined to⁣ Gaza alone; previously Israel attacked Iranian broadcasting facilities amid a similar conflict with iran’s twelve-day war campaign. Nevertheless,fearless reporters continue their work despite extreme dangers-showcasing ‌remarkable courage and ethical ‍commitment to reporting truthfully.
Professionally speaking,the assault on ‍journalists is⁢ more than personal violation-it constitutes transgression upon press freedom itself and ⁤infringes on society’s right internationally to receive information freely.
In such circumstances,mass media outlets along with global human rights organizations must stand firm protecting⁢ these heroic Gazan reporters ‌informing about Israeli crimes.
