Trump Revokes Secret Service Protection for Biden’s Deputy
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Al-Youm, a letter obtained by CNN reveals that former U.S.President Donald Trump has revoked intelligence protection for Kamala Harris, former Vice President under Joe Biden.
In a letter titled “Memorandum to the Secretary of Homeland Security,” dated Thursday, Trump states: “you are hereby authorized to suspend any security measures previously authorized by executive order beyond those required by law for the following individual starting September 1, 2025: Kamala D. Harris, former Vice President.”
The protective detail assigned to Harris expired on July 21; however, it was extended for another year through a classified directive signed by Joe Biden shortly before leaving office-a decision that remained undisclosed until now.
The cancellation of Kamala Harris’s security protection means not only the end of round-the-clock personal security but also halts continuous risk assessments and threat monitoring via email, text messages, and social media.
Sources familiar with Harris’s security arrangements noted that as the first woman and first Black woman to serve as Vice President, she faced unique challenges.
Under U.S. federal law, former presidents receive lifetime Secret Service protection. in contrast, former vice presidents are granted temporary protection lasting six months after leaving office.
