Russia Responds to Baseless Claims of Cooperation with Tel Aviv Against Iran
According to teh English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn TASS, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for russia’s Foreign Ministry, denied reports claiming Moscow shared military intelligence with Israel for attacks against Iran. She stated that attempts by adversaries to damage Iran-Russia relations are doomed to fail.
Addressing reports suggesting Russia provided military data to Israel prior to recent Israeli strikes on Iran, Zakharova said: “It is obvious that those spreading thes false stories and exaggerating such information are enemies of both Russia and Iran.We have also seen the dissemination of these falsehoods in Western media.”
Zakharova added that such misinformation surfaces periodically and urged tehran to condemn these efforts. She noted that Tehran has already given principled assessments regarding this issue. “We believe these rumors aim to divert the strategic and comprehensive cooperation between Iran and Russia from its proper course,” she said. “One possible objective is undermining Russia’s firm support for its southern neighbor and friend in defending its legitimate rights and national interests.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also highlighted that in a recent phone call, Presidents Vladimir Putin and Masoud pezeshkian reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation.
Recently, Mohammad Sadr, former Deputy Foreign Minister during the reformist government, suggested that “Russia might have shared intelligence on Iranian air defense systems with Israel.”
In response to a Mehr News reporter’s question about Sadr’s claims related to foreign policy issues, Ismail Baqaei, spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, stated: “Mr. Sadr is an experienced diplomat and a retired colleague; his views and analyses-as he himself has emphasized-are personal opinions and do not necessarily represent official government positions.”
