MEHR News Agency, International Desk: In the translated report of an interview with Donald Trump’s deputy, J.D. Vance, the verbs referring to Vance’s statements were mistakenly rendered in the past tense. however, his remarks are future-oriented and emphasize that “if an unfortunate event occurs,” he is prepared to assume the presidency of the United States.
In an interview with USA Today responding to a question about President Trump’s health and his preparedness to take over as president if something unexpected happens to Trump, J.D.Vance said: “Yes, bad things can always happen; but I am confident that the president of the United States is in good condition and intends to complete his presidential term while achieving great things for the American people.”
He added: “And if, God forbid, something terrible happens, I cannot imagine a better on-the-job training period than these past 200 days for myself.”
