Former Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Shot Dead
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Kyiv authorities announced on Saturday that a prominent ukrainian politician and former parliament speaker was fatally shot.
Andriy Parubiy, who previously served as secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, was killed in the western city of Lviv.
The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine stated that an armed individual fired multiple shots at Parubiy, killing him instantly.
The assailant fled the scene, prompting a manhunt operation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the killing as “horrific” and expressed condolences to Parubiy’s family.
Zelensky wrote on social media: ”All forces and necessary resources are engaged in investigating and searching for the perpetrator.”
Parubiy,54,was a member of Ukraine’s parliament and served as its speaker from April 2016 until August 2019.
