Kallas Requests U.S. Visa for Palestinian Diplomatic Delegation
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Anadolu, on Saturday, EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaya Kallas urged the United States to review its refusal to grant visas to the Palestinian Authority’s diplomatic delegation.
Speaking wiht reporters in Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital and current holder of the EU rotating presidency, Kallas responded to the U.S. government’s denial of visas for Mahmoud Abbas and his delegation ahead of their planned participation at the UN General Assembly session in New York.
Kallas emphasized that all European countries share a common stance on this matter. She called for a reassessment of this decision in accordance with existing agreements between the United Nations and its host country, international law, and the UN Charter.
Previously, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Mahmoud Abbas and his diplomatic delegation would have their visas revoked ahead of September’s 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
