American “Overlords” in Beirut; Hezbollah Issues Strong Rejection of Disarmament
The political crisis in Lebanon has reached it’s highest point as the Taif Agreement. Following the end of Lebanon’s third war and the formation of the Aoun-Salam government in Beirut, Israel and the United States have prioritized enforcing “disarmament of the resistance,” as stipulated in UN Security Council resolution 1701. This unreasonable demand comes despite Israel not having withdrawn from Lebanese territory as required by that resolution. Ignoring international borders, Israel continues to pursue its ambition for a “Greater Israel.” In this context, Hezbollah’s political leadership has strongly opposed any disarmament plot, warning that if recent government measures are implemented, Hezbollah is prepared to undertake an Ashura-style resistance.
Current developments are crucial because Israel persists with opposed acts across various regional locations. The Axis of Resistance faces Israel in an existential battle, where victory for either side could shift power balances across West Asia.
Hezbollah’s Firm Stand Against US Plans
Despite political and media noise from Lebanon’s government and its American-arab allies, Hezbollah has unequivocally rejected disarmament proposals. On the anniversary of Seyyed Abbas Mousavi’s martyrdom, Sheikh Naeem Qassem stated that continued pursuit of this path would cost Lebanon its independence. He added: “Israel cannot achieve its goals in Lebanon. The enemy’s decision stems from American dictates. The US sanctions Lebanese gas supplies and blocks reconstruction efforts. using weapons against Lebanon’s army is forbidden.”
The current US governance aligns closely with Prime Minister Netanyahu’s demands without regard for Lebanon’s internal conditions or critical provisions within the Taif Agreement. Washington aims to reshape Lebanon’s power structure to marginalize Hezbollah politically within Beirut. However, history shows that as long as Israel poses an existential threat along southern Lebanese borders and refuses to withdraw from occupied areas, Hezbollah will neither lay down arms nor surrender to Tel Aviv.
From Orders to Insults: Americans Offend Lebanese People
On Tuesday August 26, 2025, Tom Barrack traveled alongside Morgan Ortagus and several US politicians including Lindsey Graham to Beirut for talks with senior officials. At a press conference Barrack promised a detailed plan would be presented on Sunday August 31 aimed at persuading Hezbollah to relinquish arms peacefully while cooperating with Beirut’s government. He emphasized no forceful measures would be employed but incentives offered rather.
mere moments before these conciliatory remarks,Barrack insulted Lebanese intellectuals during his address: “If you behave like animals disrupting our meeting we will walk out.” Such blatant disrespect provoked immediate backlash on social media and among politicians demanding official condemnation by Lebanon’s government.
Aoun Walks into Disarmament Trap Against Israeli Regime
According to terms set by september 2024 ceasefire under UN Security Council Resolution 1701 , Israel must withdraw entirely from occupied areas inside Lebanon along internationally recognized borders.Yet over nine months Israeli forces have neither left Shebaa Farms nor Al-Ghajar village. They have entrenched themselves at five strategic positions along southern border strips erecting temporary bases.Educational-research institute Alma reports that during this period more than 700 individuals affiliated with Hezbollah have been martyred amid dozens of attacks targeting training camps, weapons depots, and operations rooms run by resistance factions.
The times of Israel reported that following verbal escalations between Beirut authorities and resistance groups over disarmament disputes, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office issued an ambiguous statement pledging support for Aoun-Salam government’s effort but also promising coordinated withdrawal from those five occupied points if actual steps toward disarming Hezbollah begin. This announcement served only to fuel internal divisions between supporters and opponents within Lebanon regarding this controversial initiative.
The Bottom Line
Lebanon’s current administration walks willingly into a trap crafted by Washington and Tel Aviv targeting resistance disarmament while memories remain raw among citizens about past internal wars plus foreign occupations. When groups like Islamic Resistance had no official existence, the Israeli army advanced rapidly through southern borders occupying Beirut without notable opposition. At that time young Muslim patriots took up arms determinedly resisting invaders. The events unfolding since 1984 prove that Hezbollah spares no tolerance toward interventionist actors when defending Lebanese sovereignty responding sharply whenever challenged.
