UK Foreign Secretary: Britain Will Recognize Palestine in September
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, The Guardian reported today, Sunday, that British Foreign Secretary David Lammy is set to inform Members of Parliament tomorrow, Monday, that London remains committed to recognizing the State of palestine in September.
The Guardian expects Lammy to confirm in a house of Commons statement that an official assessment will soon determine whether Israel has met the conditions outlined by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
A British official told the newspaper: ”We will evaluate all factors related to recognizing the State of Palestine. However, given the current circumstances, we are on track for recognition.”
Prime Minister Keir Starmer previously announced that Britain would recognize Palestine before the United Nations General Assembly opens on September 9.
